Hi all!
I hope everyone has survived the brute strength of Storm Barney? It has been amazing to see how the course has remained playable and that members have been out playing even when we had 48 mph gusts!
Everyone will be glad to know that the driving range and chipping area have been lit and for those who have not used it yet it really is a fantastic asset.
Studio Success
I would like to share a story with you about one of my current clients:
Last week we sourced a pre-used driver for this customer from a brand that we would not normally stock, this year's Cobra Driver with a regular shaft, standard setup at 10.5 degrees which outperforms his old driver.
The client asked to take advantage of our studio tuning service where for £20 we can fit and or refit your adjustable clubs to fine tune them for maximum gains. On initial assessment the driver was launching at an average of 8 degrees, with 136 mph ball speeds giving a carry distance of 211 yards for 230 total distance. Basically a low shot that moved to the right of target with a bit of run. We were able to try multiple settings, including the draw option which did increase the shots draw.
By increasing the loft to 12 degree we were able to increase launch angle, reduce the back spin rate resulting in 150 mph ball speeds, a carry distance of 230 yards rolling out to 250 yards, straighter shots and a very happy customer.
Why not book your Tuning review to ensure you are not leaving any yardage in the golf bag!!
Finding a few extra yards…
You've probably noticed that your best drive isn't quite travelling as far in the air as it was a few months back. Don't worry, you're not losing your power, that's what happens when the air is cooler and fairways are softer.
To squeeze a few extra yards out of your drives during the winter, try these three tips:
1. Tee your ball a little higher and move it forward in your stance to encourage an upward angle of attack, therefore adding loft.
2. Grip the club a little lighter than usual, which will help your wrists hinge more easily for a steeper angle of attack to promote a higher flight.
3. Load more weight onto your right side than usual, which also creates a steeper swing for longer carries.
Give this a go and let us know how you get on, and if you want help with any aspect of your game, don't hesitate to speak to us about a lesson or two. Get in touch here.
