Don’t put your clubs away…

After playing a lot of golf over the summer months and maintaining a certain standard, it is so easy to pack the clubs away when the temperature drops.

Continuing to play and practice during the winter months allows you to play a different type of golf, it allows you to challenge yourself and play the course in a totally different way which can only benefit your game in the long run.

If you decide to stop during the winter, the momentum you gained over the summer will slowly fade away. Many of you will know how hard it is to get your game back In sync after a few weeks away, your distances become inconsistent, your touch and feel are pretty much non-existent and it becomes very difficult to enjoy being out on the course.

Use the winter months well, get a plan in place for the new season ahead and take advantage of the coaching packages available to you. Allow me to assist your winter practice and prepare you for a successful year on the course.

Time to get excited

Whilst it's easy to think that the golf industry goes into hibernation during the winter months, it's actually one of the most exciting times of the year for us!

This week sees the PGA Show take place in Orlando, which is a huge four day conference where golf brands large and small showcase their new product for the year ahead.

Layer up

Last week we talked about one of our favourite topics: rain! Whilst waterproof protection is key for staying dry when caught in a downpour, combining layers of clothing underneath is vital if you want to enjoy the warmth without being so restricted that you can’t complete your backswing.

What do we mean by layering?

Lots of golfers are still in the habit of putting on as many layers as they possibly can in the winter to combat the cold – a vest, turtleneck, polo, sweater and jacket – but today’s golf clothing could easily cut that down by half.

What do we suggest?

From polos that keep you at a cool temperature in the summer to quilted pieces that lock in warmth like PING's Breaker jacket above, having the right item of clothing can do the job of several poor layers. Pop by the shop to have a look at our clothing collections.
